REMINDER:
Tipp City Exempted Village Schools invites area residents to attend a community meeting to elicit feedback on potential options for the district’s aging facilities. The meeting will occur on Tuesday, June 20, 6–7:30 p.m., at LT Ball Intermediate School, 575 North Hyatt Street in Tipp City.
The Board of Education hired Garmann Miller, a Minster-based K-12 planning and design firm, in 2022 to help guide the district through its master planning process. Issues Tipp City Schools are facing include aging infrastructure and building maintenance needs of existing facilities, enrollment considerations, technology capabilities that enhance academic delivery, and safety and security upgrades.
“We want this process to be inclusive of all stakeholders, resulting in a solid and workable plan that will serve as a roadmap for continued school improvements and student success,” said Monica Bruaw, Garmann Miller’s lead K-12 education planner.
GM representatives will help narrow facility options by doing preliminary cost estimations for potential grade configurations. Bruaw states involving community members is essential to create buy-in and excitement for the future. “Developing and presenting options without a predetermined outcome allows stakeholders to actively participate, know their voices are heard, and see the process through,” she said. Through two-way communication between the community and Facilities Task Force, options will be refined with the goal of a consensus being reached by the task force to determine and present a final plan to the board. Components to consider in each school building include location and accessibility, age and condition, historical significance, and the ability to support 21st-century learning.
